Visual
I have always been a highly visual person and have been creating things with my hands my whole life. As a child I was influenced by the pop culture and media I observed around me, which sparked the importance of music in my creative practice. Music and visuals are inexorably intertwined for me – a color, a piece of clothing, an imagined world evokes a song and vice versa.
As I neared adolescence I began to struggle with anxiety and perfectionism in my visual work which had a hugely inhibitive effect on my creative process. Nowadays, I have embarked on a journey to reconnect with the joy of creating and find ways to move through and lessen inhibitive anxiety for myself and others. I believe strongly in the transformative power of aesthetic joy and in translating my emotional and fantasy worlds, I am able to connect more profoundly with the people and environments around me.
The forms I work most in at present are hand embroidery, drawing and painting, mixed media, and jewelry.
