I wake up and everything feels so clear, so real
Water pools around my head, my ears
I wake up and I am so glad for everything the tide brought me
It never lasts, it washes out,
But all through the day my fingers are salty
Stay Awhile (It Meant Nothing) is a site-specific performance I created in response to Andy Goldsworthy’s Stone House at Jupiter Artland (Edinburgh). It explores dreams, grief, holding on, letting go, and holding on in different ways. As I move through the space in a choreography, a ritual, a cycle, a series of dreamlike images and echoes of different personas I have inhabited in the self-narrativization of my life emerge, retreat, and flow into one another.
